Evgeniya Bogdanova

Chief Executive Officer, Astana Financial Services Authority

Evgenia Bogdanova has been serving as a Chief Executive Officer of the Astana Financial Service Authority (AFSA) since October 2024. AFSA is an independent, integrated regulator overseeing financial services and related activities in the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC).

Evgenia Bogdanova brings over 25 years of experience in international financial markets. Prior to joining AFSA, from 2019 to 2024, Evgenia led Regulation & Compliance at the Astana International Exchange (AIX), supervising listing of financial instruments, market conduct of AIX trading members, developing the regulatory framework for AIX market participants and enforcing compliance. She also oversaw AIX Group’s corporate governance, risk management and internal audit functions, and played a key role in supporting AIX’s accession to the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE).

From 2007 to 2019, Evgenia headed the Legal Department and Group Corporate Governance function at investment bank Renaissance Capital, advising on international securities transactions, mergers and acquisitions and privatization.

Earlier in her career, between 2003 and 2007, she practiced law at international law firm White & Case, specializing in a broad range of securities products and cross-border capital markets matters, representing leading global investment banks, major corporations, sovereigns and funds.

From 1999 to 2003, Evgenia held various roles at, and subsequently headed, the department responsible for policymaking at the Russian Federal Commission for the Securities Markets, contributing to legislative reforms and cooperating with international development institutions such as EBRD and IFC to reform the Russian securities market and align securities legislation with international standards.
