Chief Executive Officer, National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGCL), Pakistan

Ammar Habib Khan is a financial sector leader specializing in SME finance, fintech innovation, and risk management, with over 17 years of experience spanning investment management, financial inclusion, and energy finance. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGCL), a Government of Pakistan and FCDO-backed institution, established to expand access to finance for underserved businesses through credit guarantees and innovative financial products.

Previously, Ammar was the founding CEO of CreditBook Financial Services, a fintech backed by Tiger Global, that leveraged transactional data to design AI-driven SME credit scoring models, and served as Group Chief Risk Officer at Karandaaz Pakistan and Parwaaz Financial Services. His earlier roles include Head of Risk at the National Investment Trust and wholesale risk at HSBC.

An economist by training, Ammar has worked on renewable energy and climate finance projects with the UNDP, and has served as Advisor to Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Power on sectoral reforms. He is a former Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council (Washington D.C.), and Assistant Professor of Practice in Finance at the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.

Ammar holds an M.S. in Applied Economics from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, and is a CFA Charterholder, FRM Certified, and Sustainability & Climate Risk Certified. His economic and energy analyses are regularly published in Dawn and The News, and regularly cited by Bloomberg, Financial Times, and BBC World.
