Capital Markets Lead, Financial Institutions Group, Advisory &Upstream, Asia Pacific, IFC

Sedef Gunsur is the Capital Markets Practice Group Lead for IFC’s Financial Institutions Group – Upstream & Advisory in Asia and the Pacific, where she drives initiatives to deepen and develop capital markets across the region. She joined IFC in October 2021, bringing over 20 years of global banking experience spanning both sell-side and buy-side roles in emerging markets.

Over the course of her career, Sedef has executed approximately $50 billion in transactions across 85 capital market deals, including landmark debut issuances for sovereigns, financial institutions, and corporates. Her expertise covers debt, equity, and structured finance solutions, with a proven track record in originating, structuring, and syndicating complex transactions.

Sedef has played a pivotal role in building and scaling capital markets businesses worldwide. She co-founded the Capital Markets Turkey department at UniCredit, built the global Debt Capital Markets platform for First Abu Dhabi Bank, established a fixed income advisory desk for Bank of Singapore in Dubai, and set up the syndicate desk for Debt Capital Markets at Mashreq.

She holds a dual degree in Economics and International Relations from Lehigh University, a Master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), and an Executive MBA from INSEAD.
