Ryoma Ikeda

Head of Digital Currency Experiments Group, Payment and Settlement Systems Division, Payment and Settlement Systems Department, Bank of Japan

Ryoma Ikeda is the Head of the CBDC Experiments Group at the Bank of Japan's Payment and Settlement Systems Department, a position he will hold starting in June 2025. In this role, he oversees the planning and management of the CBDC Forum, which brings together over 60 private-sector companies to discuss a wide range of topics related to retail payments. From March 2023 to June 2025, he supported the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan across a broad range of administrative and policy-related tasks as the policy secretary. Prior to this, he was involved in various areas of monetary policy, international financial regulations, and macro and micro prudence. He holds a degree in economics from the University of Tokyo (2006) and an MBA from the University of Cambridge (2012).
