Wendy Wang

Wendy Wang

Chief Information Officer, Asia & Middle East, HSBC

Based in Hong Kong and with over 30 years of experience in financial services technology, Wendy Wang has assumed the role as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Asia and the Middle East in January 2025, overseeing the regional Technology team as part of the Global Technology and regional leadership teams.

Born in China and raised in the US with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Wendy previously worked for a number of financial services organisations, including Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, General Re, Bankers Trust, and AIG.


Wendy joined HSBC’s Global Banking and Markets Technology in New York in 2005. In 2009, she transferred to HSBC Hong Kong and held the position of Asia-Pacific CIO for Global Banking and Markets. Wendy was appointed Global CIO for Commercial Banking in 2013 and moved to the United Kingdom before moving back to Hong Kong in 2017.


In 2020, Wendy’s role was expanded to Wholesale CIO for a newly formed Technology unit, covering Commercial Banking, Global Banking, Global Cash and Liquidity, and Payment infrastructure. In 2024, she was appointed as Global Head, Technology Centres, and had the oversight across all of the Technology Centres in India, China, Poland, and Mexico.


Wendy is married with an adult son and daughter. In her spare time, Wendy enjoys reading books, listening to music and exercising.
