Morito Emi

Morito Emi

Executive Officer, Chief Data Officer, Managing Director, Head of Digital Strategy Division, MUFG

Mr. Emi joined The Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, Ltd. in 1999.

After serving as the head of the Business Development Office in the Corporate Planning Department in 2023, Mr. Emi assumed his current position in 2024.

Mr. Emi is responsible for leading MUFG’s digital transformation initiatives by developing a company-wide digital infrastructure and leveraging expertise. This includes promoting AI, BI, data, and talent strategies, and providing support to front, middle, and back-office functions across MUFG. Additionally, open innovation from a technology standpoint is part of his role, seeking external solutions, partnerships, and business development opportunities.

Prior to his current position, he has primarily worked in strategic planning and global departments, handling strategic investments in Southeast Asia, branch network strategy in EMEA, divestiture of a U.S. subsidiary, new business development, etc.

Mr. Emi graduated from The University of Tokyo with a Bachelor of Economics in 1999 and earned a Master of Business Administration in 2010 from Columbia Business School, the United States.
